I am teaching the first perek of Kiddushin this year to 9th grade girls. We just learned the gemara (29b) which states women are not obligated to learn Torah. Tomorrow we are beginning to learn a booklet I put together on Woman and Learning Torah. It begins with the Gemara and progresses through traditional sources up until (and including) the recent controversy regarding Rabbi Willig’s comments on the Modern Orthodox Day School curriculum.
